On Friday, 06 December 2024, Innovative Entrepreneurs NPC proudly hosted the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Disability Indaba 2024 (DE&I Disability Indaba)—a landmark event dedicated to championing the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in South Africa’s mainstream economy.

A United Effort for Inclusion:

The event brought together influential partners, industry leaders, and changemakers committed to breaking barriers and fostering a more inclusive economy. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners for their unwavering support: nXtABLED Entrepreneurship Centre, Law Society of South Africa, French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Blind SA, eDEAF, DISA (Disability Inclusion South Africa), DEAFinition NPC, Helen O’Grady Drama Academy – SOUTH AFRICA, Wheelchair Basketball South Africa, Mandeville Sports Club, Smergos.

Industry Commitments to Employment Equity:

One of the most significant highlights of the DE&I Disability Indaba 2024 was the pledge by Industry Associations and Professional Bodies to achieve the 7% employment equity target for Persons with Disabilities by 2030. This reflects a collective commitment to fostering inclusion, accessibility, and equity across all economic sectors.

We commend the following organizations for their contributions and leadership in driving this mission forward: The South African Medical Technology Industry Association (SAMED), South African Chamber of Commerce UK, French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa, South African Chamber of Commerce Singapore, Law Society of South Africa, Women in 3D Printing, South African Fragrance and Flavour Industry, South African Association of Food Science and Technology, ICT Sector Charter Council, Forest Sector Charter Council, Financial Sector Transformation Council, South African Wine Industry, SA Human Rights Commission.

The DE&I Disability Indaba 2024 featured impactful discussions, actionable insights, and collaborative solutions that inspired all stakeholders to take meaningful action toward breaking barriers and building an inclusive economy.

With industry leaders, policymakers, and organizations coming together to drive systemic change, this event was a testament to the power of collaboration in creating a future where Persons with Disabilities are fully integrated into South Africa’s workforce and business landscape.
