Dec 2023 - Taking a Stand Against Gender-Based Violence in South Africa
In December 2023, Innovative Entrepreneurs NPC partnered with the South African Women Lawyers Association (SAWLA) to organize a powerful Mass Action March in support of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign. Held during South Africa’s official observance period from November 25 to December 10, this initiative aimed to shine a spotlight on the urgent national crisis of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
Why It Matters: The Ongoing GBVF Crisis
Gender-based violence continues to devastate communities across South Africa. Women, children, and LGBTQIA+ individuals face daily threats to their safety, autonomy, and dignity. According to national statistics, South Africa has among the highest femicide rates globally, with women five times more likely to be killed by intimate partners than elsewhere in the world.
The SAWLA Mass Action March served as a bold, unified call to action—bringing together legal professionals, community organizers, civil society, students, and business leaders to raise awareness and drive meaningful change.

Our collaboration with SAWLA marked a strategic alignment of vision and purpose. As a community-building movement, Innovative Entrepreneurs is committed to promoting social justice, economic access, and gender equality—particularly through our support for women-owned enterprises and youth empowerment hubs.
By standing alongside SAWLA and other advocacy groups, we reinforced our belief that economic empowerment and safety go hand-in-hand. Women cannot thrive in entrepreneurship or leadership if they are not first safe in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
